It struck me that I have not been utilizing my time as much as I could have when my boyfriend persistently demanded that I spend my time fruitfully instead of slacking around doing nothing - my favorite past time on week day nights, because honestly my energy level by the time I get home from work crash to near zero. Hell, I don't even watch the telly.
So I went round doing my little survey, sample size of 3 - 2 males & 1 female.
Male B concurred with my boyfriend & even added that one has to be passionate with at least one thing in life in order to lead a meaningful life. Well said, though that only adds to my list of worries because going by his definition, I am not leading a meaningful life. And as hard as I work my brains, I can't think of anything I am passionate about! *Devastation!*
After hearing Mr Boyfriend & male B, I'm tempted to conclude this whole having passion & maximizing time is related to the traditional role of men is to bring home the bacon.
Female S was facing the exact predicament & she was of the opinion that its largely a guy thing, well Hello there friend heh!
Male C weighed in & he believes that to each his/her own, one doesn't have to live life according to how others define it. *Applause!*
Of course this issue bugged me for abit, I thought about it in the shower, on the way to work & even while I am at work. Can't believe it took me awhile to realize what I have overlooked all this time. Hearing what Male C said really knocked some sense into me. At the end of the day it's really to each his/her own because every individual is entitled to their own opinion, I am glad to say that I am happy to be doing what I do & blessed with the people in my life.

Reflections
On hindsight, I am glad to be where I am right now.
Yes you probably have guessed it, I used to work there. Since the day I bid that firm farewell, it has been almost a year that I am with my current employer. I guess for most of us, having a stable job with steady income is probably a given that comes along with most jobs. Never in my wildest dream would I have foreseen myself in the meeting room with my boss & a HR personnel discussing my compensation package. That was certainly a "milestone" in my career, I was just 24 when it happened, still fresh from university and barely working for just 2 years. Suddenly, my career has come to a dead end.
Without doubt, that was a hard fall. In such tough times, the support from family & friends had helped to keep me moving forward. Like a sharp jolt that awakens you from deep sleep, I had come to realize the harsh reality of how cut-throat the investment banking industry is.
The human spirit grows & develops from such experiences hence in my job search I was certain that my next job must offer me stability and opportunities for growth because I was not getting any younger & I most certainly would need the steady income for settling down.
Today, here & now, looking back at what happened, I am glad that it did because I could not have imagined where I would have ended up.
